It's something I've pondered on, which is the most sensible term for these
pictures,

'Chromes' are obviously based on Kodak's name for the first succesful film
of this type.
'Transparencies' I suppose is more correct as a generic term, but long
winded.
'Slides' is shorter but, I presume, is derived from having to 'slide' the
film from one side of the projector carrier to the other in its
cardboard/plastic mount. A strange way to acquire a name perhaps!

I certainly say 'slides' most of the time but if we can think, we can ask
questions can't we?
