'Transparencies' I suppose is more correct as a generic term, but long winded. 'Slides' is shorter but, I presume, is derived from having to 'slide' the film from one side of the projector carrier to the other in its cardboard/plastic mount. A strange way to acquire a name perhaps! I certainly say 'slides' most of the time but if we can think, we can ask questions can't we?
