Mark,
There may be a segment of the US public that appreciates theatre and can
recognize a good photo. But about 1% (a wild guess) of the people actually
patronize theatre. The rest veg out with the most disgusting kind of
mindless eye candy. As far as lying to people, why the government, the
press, and advertising huckesters live to lie.
Please give credit where due, but don't overlook the vast intellectual
wasteland of bad taste that is American (USA) culture.
