I've owned and used all three of these.  The optical performance simply
gets better as the years go on:  the original 2.8/90 is a fine lens, the
2.8/90 fat Tele-Elmarit is a nicer lens, the skinny Tele-Elmarit quite a
bit better, yet, and the current lens is, from every account, absolutely
out of this world.

Bud, I like the original Elmarit, but it cannot hold a candle to the later
Tele's nor to the current lens.
