Subject: [Leica] Prints from Kodachrome

Hi all,

There is a new way to make prints from Kodachrome. Hewlett Packard has a
scanner priced at $399 before a $100 rebate at
http://www.photosmart.com/promo/banner/rebate.html only available on the
internet. This scanner will scan slides at 2400 dpi. For a third party
review check out:

I have one sitting here unopened which I just purchased at Office Depot. I
will hook it up this weekend and report later on results. The agenda for
Hewlett Packard is to sell lots of photo quality printers with special paper
and inks. I know that years ago National Geographic used Kodachrome
exclusively, and purchased it in bulk to assure that all of their
photographers used film from the same lot. I was always jealous that the
technology that made those pictures in the magazine was unavailable to me.
We shall see how this new scanner works. There is a 14 day return policy at
Office Depot, so I really have nothing to lose by giving it a try.
