Henri Cartier-Bresson always said he avoided the influence of intoxicants
in case they might slow down his reactions. I'm sure most people here would
not have to worry about having such reflexes in the first place.

But when I look at the art and listen to some of the music inspired by
drugs, I am not surprised.

On the other hand, W. Gene Smith was a severe abuser of drugs and alcohol,
and his work makes me wonder how could he have been better? I'm sure he
could have been.
