Hello Francois,

what is interesting to see in Munich was reported by other Luggers
so perfectly, that will add only a few minor points:

When you visit Marienplatz, where the Glockenspiel is, also climb
the tower of "old St. Peters". It gives you a great view over the city,
which is imo better than from the city hall tower or the tower of the
"frauenkirche".

The excellent exhibition on photography in "Deutsches Museum" is
closed for six years now, and is still closed. The reason is financial.
It is customs that new exhibitions in the museum are supported by the
industry in the concerned field (ie. cars, airplanes, railways ...). The
photography section was to be made new years ago, but from the
suffering german photography industry, no one was willing to
contribute. Let me add that you should visit the museum anyway!

When you decide to stay for "Oktoberfest", which is surely worth seeing,
be sure to have a place to stay prebooked. It is simply not possible to find a
room or to prolong a stay in a Munich hotel during Oktoberfest.
(Virtually all hotels are booked at the END of Oktoberfest, for the next year)

Apart from that, it is a must to visit a "Biergarten" one time and enjoy a
liter-mug of beer, a huge "brezel" and a barbecue chicken.

Regards,

Gerd (in Munich)
