Subject: [Leica] Ilford Film & Developer

Years ago, when I did my own developing and printing, I used to take
pictures on Tri-X rated at 320 and developed for 9 minutes in D-76
diluted 1:1 at 20 C. I used to get fine grain, beautifully negs with
a tonal scale longer than John Goodman's waist measurement ;)

I've now got back into photography and, having discovered the second
time around that labs ruin your negs, am about to start developing film
again. I usually favour the smaller companies, and since Ilford are
dedicated to B&W, I've decided to use their films. Besides, a number
of really fantastic pictures I've seen recently are taken on Ilford
film.

I also like the idea of the X-Tol developer, without the environmentally
hazardous hydro-whatsits. I would like to hear if anyone has experience
of Ilford films (such as FP4+, HP5+, Delta 100 & 400) and X-Tol
developer, and what that experience is.

Please include all the relevant information on development, as the
example above.

Thanks,

M.
