Bob,

I don't care what improvements Leica made, a battery operated winder for an
M camera is useless...period!! And at $900. I'd want it made of solid gold
and to "run silent!" Like no sound at all!

Having in the past bought and sold or thrown away three previous battery M
winders all of which made such a thunking thumping sound I might as well
have had a neon sign on the camera flashing...."I'm taking pictures!"

Each winder at sometime was sent in for "adjustment to function properly
with the camera", hell why couldn't it have been made to fit any M4 body
without further adjustment?

Now if you truly want a winder, there is only one in existence.....
"The Rapid Winder" manufactured by Tom Abrahamsson, Vancouver Canada,

This is the man to contact or you can find him through his web page
illustrating the Rapid Winder, a none battery human powerd silent winder
that you can drive at 3 frames a second if need be. it's a beautifully
machined piece of equipment which many on the LUG have on their M's.

I'm sure there will be others who attest to it's excellance.

So before you even take the time to consider the battery winder....new
version or not....just go Rapid Winder and save your money for film and
picture taking fun!

it's silent, it's fast, and actually makes the M handling easier.

of course this is offered in my humblest of opinions!;)
