Subject: Re: [Leica] New Leica List

I fear that the problem with setting up a new moderated or more
specialised Leica list much of the charm of LUG will be lost.

Members of widely varying experience and volubility not to mention skill
levels have managed to coexist here for the most part fruitfully and with
a couple of spectacular exceptions without hurting each others feelings.
That is great and this coziness is one of the appeals of the place
certainly when compared to many other Internet groups: for example if we
were to condemn Ted to talking f-stops and nothing else (and I am
grateful that no-one here has such a power) I think most of us would feel
something valuable would be lost from this group - his warmth of feeling
for his work, his passion for life and good humour have saved us from a
number of bust-ups I think. Pyroflatulating cows and operating theatres
are not strictly Leica subjects but I don't care! Thanks Ted!

I could cite other examples of the positive but I expect each of us has
his or her preferences and if anyone feels the subjects are boring or
irrelevent the best solution is to be proactive and start a constructive
discussion instead of bitching. At least try it before you give up on the
list: I say this as a longtime lurker and only an occasional
contributor/agent provocateur. Perhaps the silent majority could join in
when they see things going in a direction they dislike with some positive
input instead of moaning...

Back to equipment questions - anybody else heard tell of the new TTL
flash capable M6s to be announced at Photokina? I also just heard that he
M6HM is discontinued already....
