Maybe it's me feeling great to have my camera repaired and back so
quickly, but i thought the LUG should hear that LEICA INC. in New
Jersey, U.S.A. is working hard to please its customers. Remember a while
back on the list, a posting mentioned how equipment is fixed fairly
quickly, efficiently and even followed up by inquiries on the
performance of the repaired equipment?? And that there is usually no
explaination to what the cause of the problem is??

Well, I had an experience that might signal further improvements in
customer service (maybe not to some, but we can hear more later from
others):

On July 28th, I send my M6 for a faulty meter;

July 31st, Leica returns my call to say they received "yesterday";

August 3rd, i call to find out how long it'll take to fix per need it
for this weekend's assignment; it was going to take 3 weeks according to
the notes so I left a message with manager of repair dept. for an ASAP
fix;

August 6th, i call back since I did not get a call back from Leica --
found out they had replaced the meter board and fed ex'd it on 8-4-98 --
should get it today; also received an email today from Leica's customer
service manager, Brenda Olesin, courteously explaining the cause of the
meter problem repair and the Fed Ex delivery date & tracking number.

<Dear Leica customer:
The circuit board in your camera has been replaced with a brand new one,
as this was the cause of your meter malfunctioning. Your camera has been
checked over completely for good working order, and was shipped fedex on
8-4-98 on fe#421603144588.
I'm sure you will be enjoying your camera for many years to come-
do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Talk about prompt!! Before all this of course I was worried that I
couldn't photograph for the next 3 weeks!! Unfortunately I had bought
the M6 as a backup to my SLR (which is ON THE FRITZ now). Fortunately I
have the M6 now and just popped in a roll .. meter works fine and we'll
see the results soon.

Leically happy 8-P
