I've had several friends familiar with my work ask me to shoot their weddings.
I always agree to be the second fiddle: they have to have found somebody else
to do the traditional posed stuff and be on the line with the responsibility
for delivering *something*; I just refuse to shoot weddings except for
friends, but also refuse to risk a friendship over what I might or might not
produce. Come the day, I always introduce myself to the Hasselblad-toting
Official Photographer, tell him or her to unceremoniously kick me out of the
way if I'm getting in the way of a shot, and slink around with my little
cameras ... but then if the couple don't end up liking my pictures a whole
bunch better than anything the Official Photographer produces, I know I was
way off my game!
