When i was a kid i had a hell of a lot of trouble using the rangefinder, i now love it, the slr is easier to focus and has a built in meter which in my opion is very important for a beginer. They should be able to concentrate on framing the shot while still mantaining control of exposure and focus (i dont think anyone should learn on an auto anything camera) Also, the camera is one of the smallest slrs which is good for kids and it is realatively cheap.
