The Macro-Elmarit-R 60/2.8 is tack sharp at all distances, it is a truly 
universal lens and should be considered as a standard lens, except if you 
need a wider aperture than 2.8. The lens is considered to be the standard 
among macro lenses, but the Nikkor AI-S 55/2.8 and the newer AF-Nikkor 
60/2.8 should be almost as good, that is to say: excellent, for a lot 
less money. The "Leica curse" in some way :-)
