Incredible when you think that within most SLR camps the lens that is =
now mostly discounted for is the "standard lens" or 50mm. I took some =
pictures with mine - Summicron 50 - and they came back better than I =
ever thought possible. Most of the pictures were taken at close range =
at f4 and f5.6. The 50mm is MY lens now...with a little place in my =
heart for the soon to come 90mm, if I can find one that is not as long =
as Pinocchio's nose!=20
I can understand your joyful surprise Tom. Have a good one!

Subject: [Leica] SHARP LENS !!!

I just got back the first roll of Kodachrome 64 slides that I had =
used on "people" I had been using my 50 DR Summicron for landscapes and =
buildings but had not had occasion to use it for much else.
I took quite a few head and sholder shots with it and to say sharp, =
is decidedly an understatement.
One should limit it to the very young with perfect complections or =
the very old where the raveges of time are wanted...otherwise that thing =
is brutal....technically it is more than I dreamed, sharpness, contrast, =
color rendition etc etc. but it really will give cause to think before =
taking many close shots (at least of people you have to live with ) =
Next time you guys say sharp, I'll believe it.
Tom
