Georgette,

which lens are you speaking of ?

The subject line says R lens, but you recently wrote that you
purchased an M6 body, on USD 1.300, your first Leica.

If you speak about an 2/35 M Summicron, it dates from 1969, and
is a version 2, 6 elements, Gauss type, a little soft at lower
f-stops when compared to version 4, the pre-asph one, but nice.
The price is around USD 400, 450, at least in Germany. In the
long run, you will be more pleased with a version 4 Summicron,
specially wide open, price around USD 700, 800. If you like
to have a look at my web sites: there are several pictures, b/w
and color, taken with that lens ("Canadian"). Additionally, I
described this lens at length in the subjective lens report,
part 5, published in the LUG April 10, 98.

If you speak about the R lens, then you have a prototype, because
production began in 1972 :)
