We all chose to use the Leicas for hopefully the same reason, HIGH QUALITY
IMAGES. These images are created with high quality, precision tools. It just
so happens to have a unique look to the final images, we tend to regard it as
"Leica quality". Now all Leica glass may not have as high a line pair or MTF
as another manufacturer's single lense, you have to admit they do collectively
outperform most lenses. I chose to use Leica (R) cameras after a career
shooting with Canons (F1s), Nikons (F, F2, F3) because there is a difference!
Photograph a landscape and marvel at the reproduction of the scene on your
slide. Look at the shadow detail, the highlight detail, the modeling of light
as it wraps around an object. That is what you should be paying for, not a
test film of a 2 dimensional target.
