Depth of field is important in macro photography, but you should also consider
your light source.  By increasing camera/subject distance you allow reflected
light, off camera strobes as viable sources.

If you use off camera flash (Metz makes TTL extension cord/modules) you can
place your strobe at the same distance.  
If you keep the same magnification, you will be half the distance closer with
the 60 mm lense.  This may result in shadows, and hinder composition.  In
summary, I prefer the 100mm over the 60mm so that I can use the distance from
the subject to add lights and reflectors without worrying about my own shadow.
