The only external difference is that designation laser-etched on the front(!) of the main viewfinder window. Just what you want your subject to be puzzling over when you point the camera at him/her. With their mania for outlandish commemorative finishes and engravings during the past 20 years, you'd think they'd a)come up with a proper model name b) engrave the .85 on the back of the top cover, where the photographer (not the photographee) would notice it. Sigh.
