A question for all .......

Other than the fact that both Michael and I ended up having private mail go
out to everyone, which is probably my fault because I am new to this whole
thing .....( electronic mail  )

I have a Leica M-4 that I am going to sell. Michael was looking for a
"user" M, and I considered mine a "user". It has some wear marks, one very
small ding on the top but is otherwise pretty clean, recently serviced and
ready to go for another thirty years. Michael thinks it is a bit high in
price and he may be right. The question is, how do I tell what is fair for
me and a potential buyer. I picked a  price after looking at several ads.
The M-4's appear to be holding a steady price and are higher than I would
normally have thought. I have had this camera for almost thirty years and
the idea of collecting cameras and not using them is like having books and
not reading or access to music and not listening - it does not make sense.
After reading Michael's note I picked up a Shutterbug and looked at the
ads. I did not find a lot of information about the rating systems used but
after looking I would say that this particular M-4 should be E+ to E++. To
me it is a user, and anything else has not been out of the box for the past
thirty years.

Does anyone out there care to comment ..........?
