This might help with several questions over the last few days.

Call or write to Bryan Geyer @

and ask for his latest catalog ( January 98 )

Bryan make a very complete line of quick-release mounting plates (
including the M-series ) that mount to the Arca-Swiss B-1 style ball head.
I use this system on a Gitzo #320 and it will hold anything that I care to
pack around anymore. If you don't want something that heavy he makes two
sizes of clamps that will work on a tripod with a standard screw mount. I
use mine on a Bogen #3001 and for something as small as an M series it
works great and is very light to pack. Compared to most of the junk out
there, these plates are small, light and secure.

The catalog is very informative and has a lot of test data on heads and
tripods. It even offers and opinion or two, something that we don't see
around this site very often.
