Here are some of  differences between the SL and SL-2:

- - Different shapes.  I like the SL-2 best.
- - SL-2 has hot shoe.  I don't use it with my big Metz flash.
- - SL back opens by a sliding lock whereas the the SL-2 opens by moving a
lock aside and pulling up on the rewind knob.  I prefer the SL approach.
- - SL-2 has much more sensitive metering system.  SL-2 much better
- - SL has a bigger and brighter viewfinder which does not have the split
image screen of the SL-2.
Note that the SL screen is superb for macro and telephoto work but not as
good as the SL-2 for shorter lenses at normal reproduction ratios.
- - SL will accept some of the newer lenses that won't work on the SL-2 and
vis versa.
- - SL-2 has a light for the meter needle in dim light so it has two seperate
battery locations.  I never use this feature on the SL-2.
- - Different winding levers.  I prefer the SL-2.

Biggest drawbacks of the SL are the lack of meter sensitivity and the lack
of split image screen.
