This was a strange device built by Walther Benser in Germany ( He also made some rather neat cases for Leica's). The Benser baseplate allowed you to attach two M-lenses to the bottom of your camera, thus assuring you of major disaster when you dropped it because it was too heavy. I used to have one and would put an old Hektor on it and use it as a very large handgrip. The lenses pointed downward and if you did not drop the whole thing,you tended to leave a trail of frontcaps, hoods and occasinally a filter or two. There is a new version of it out that allows you to attach only one lens to the base ( less costly to drop, at least taking into account inflation and currency fluctuations). Tom A
