I have several PLOOT's and have used them without a great deal of trouble. And I'm hardly a 'talented' photographer! >> Marc - Of course I have used them also but not with ease. Mine had a swing-in 30X magnifier that was used to focus on an aerial image in the center, if desired. One of the 2 Ploot outfits, with one of the first 90 of the 20cm Telyts, belonged to Dr. Paul Wolff & he used it at the 1936 Olympics since Leitz hadn't come up with the 400mm yet. I think that they only made 2 that year. Both lens & PLOOT were in a special EMTOO case with a German customs stamp with a pic of Hitler on it. Did Wolff leave the country when Hitler came in? Incidentally, I had the outfit advertised for sale (at a nominal price) in the LHSA catalog for over a year before it was sold to Japan. A friend of mine (Curt Knight) owns the earliest PLOOT known (#1002) and Jim Lager has borrowed it to photograph for his 3rd book on Leica accessories, which should be available soon. *************************** Marvin Moss
