I thought Sonke's initial response was measured and appropriate. Tom, What is the problem? He promised that he would find out the answer to Alistair's question when he got back from his business trip. The other part of the letter asked Alistair not to give out his email address, explaining how he doesn't want to become every LUG member's personal pen-pal. I think he was trying to be very polite about this. As he took pains to explain, tech support and one-on-one customer relations are not his job. In spite of this, his is helping. To use your analogy, the fact that the kid doesn't want his address given out to thousands of 7-Eleven customers is a separate issue from whether or not he is checking the dates on milk bottles. If the kid is going to do his job, being called up by large numbers of people who want to chat about the butterfat content of the milk or discuss the bokeh of bottle glass is not going to be welcome. I don't see any reason to complain yet. Give him time to answer Alistair's question, as he promised, before you jump on him. - - Paul - --IMA.Boundary.401693378 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; name="RFC822 message headers" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: cc:Mail note part Content-Disposition: inline; filename="RFC822 message headers" Received: from ns2.baxter.com (159.198.1.38) by ccmailgw.mcgawpark.baxter.com with SMTP (IMA Internet Exchange 2.1 Enterprise) id 001A4424; Thu, 4 Sep 97 12:37:59 - -0500 Received: from mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [192.147.236.1]) by ns2.baxter.com (8.8.0/8.8.0) with ESMTP id MAA12844 for <stewara@baxter.com>; Thu, 4 Sep 1997 12:45:55 -0500 (CDT) Received: from by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (5.65/KJV) id AA25451for mike.sisk@autodesk.com; Thu, 4 Sep 97 08:37:20 -0700 Received: from eos.eos.net by mejac.palo-alto.ca.us (5.65/KJV) id AA25445for /usr/local/lib/majordomo/wrapper resend -C /usr/local/lib/majordomo/config.mejac/majordomo.cf -l leica-users -h mejac.palo-alto.ca.us leica-users-outgoing@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us; Thu, 4 Sep 97 08:37:14 -0700 Received: from [205.133.149.203] (port149203.eos.net [205.133.149.203]) by eos.net (8.7.5/8.7.2) with SMTP id LAA16855 for <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us>; Thu, 4 Sep 1997 11:38:24 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <199709041538.LAA16855@eos.net> Subject: Re: Re[2]: M6 problem "survey" Date: Thu, 4 Sep 97 11:39:01 -0400 X-Mailer: Claris Emailer 1.1 From: Paul Schliesser <paulsc@eos.net> To: "Leica User's Group" <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Sender: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Precedence: bulk Reply-To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us - --IMA.Boundary.401693378--
