The images made with my first 500 instamatic Minolta were a revalation compared with Mr Kodak's Instamatic 50. I moved through Minolta rangefinders to the SRT 101 XD 7 [11] X700 and a bevy of lenes. One year in Hobart a visiting Leica man suggested I borrow a set of lenses and an R4. I tried every combination I could and brought the 100 or so prints/slides etc back to the shop and said. "you sort them into 2 piles". About 80-90% were correctly identified as Leica versus the Minolta. I had thought it was true, but the poor shop owner was blinded to the test so I felt even more convinced. It took me many years and the experience of the CLE to finally get me into Leicas, but the "pull" is strong ;-) Not sure if I could tell the difference of the top of the line Nikon Canon or Contax lenses, but I'll keep testing.
