>>Anyone having experience with the Summilux-R 80 mm f/1.4 lens?

I heard from Leica people that this lens is a great performer at and
around
the biggest apertures (1.4, 2.0, 2.8) for which is has been built.
It's purpose would be available light photography. They said that
quality
of this lens would be deteriorating if used at normal (smaller)
apertures.

How about this? How are the results at the biggest apertures? Can this
lens
also be used as a multi-purpose lens, or is it really limited to
available
light?

Thanks for input!

I have the 80 Summilux. I don't know if it is really "best" at the
widest apertures, but it is better than other lenses at those
apertures. I have been happy with the performance at all apertures but
I must say I have not done any serious testing. I have been using it as
an all around lens and have found it fine for that. One of the nice
things about the lens is the brightness of the viewfinder, especially on
the R8.
