Subject: Best Loupe

Dear Fellow LUGnuts,

I have used a number of loupes over the years including the Rodenstock and
Schneider 4X designs. Most recently I have begun to use the Peak
Anastigmat 4X loupe. It is a big loupe. The biggest advantage is the
large diameter optic. I can see a 2 1/4" negative or chrome and all of a
35mm slide and mount in one view. Best of all, I don't have to move my
eyes from side to side to see the entire slide when I wear glasses. This
is a major advantage.

The Rodenstock/Schneider loupes cost about $ 100 and the Peak loupe about
$170. Peak makes some cheap optics I wouldn't consider - but their big
loupe is very good indeed. A little bit pricey but if Leica made a loupe,
it would probably cost even more.

Happy viewing,

Richard
