Exactly right, Ken! Rebate is far from synonymous with a new replacement in the wings. Leica has periodically offered, over many years, various rebates. Many are not associated with new product. Some are, some are not. Leica is terribly good at keeping the lid on product development and announcements. A dealer in Tucson just got his authorization as dealer some 2+ years ago. As is usual with a new dealer, the owner attended the next scheduled "dealer training school in English that Leica ran. At the time he attended, the rumor mill was rampant with speculation on the R8. About all he came away with was the knowledge that there was an R8 about to be announced, but zero information on specs., appearance etc. - -- Roger Beamon Naturalist & Photographer Leica Historical Society Of America mailto:beamon@primenet.com Thought for the day: Work is accomplished by those who have yet to reach their level of incompetence.
