It's spectacular at all ranges.  
It can be used with a APO-2X extender and still works great at all
distances.  Try the special Elpro, with the APO-2x. still works
great.  This lens has got to be the "miracle lens" of the century.

Can't say enough good about it.

Additional question: is this lens free of the dreaded IR-focus 
correction? The 180/2.8 is not, the 180/3.4 *is*, right?
