Subject: Leitz lens from WWII......

I spoke with a relative the other day and was shown telescope...
Here is where the story get interesting. 
Here is what I have been told so far:
While my grandfather was in WWII in Germany, they  raided a castle of
someone ( I forgot whose) and while there they found a pair of binoculars on
a german soldier.  In short, he and a someone he met during the war, each
got one of the lens.  Could this have been a Leitz binocular lens?  It seems
very sharp, and when aimed at the moon, it is amazing how detailed the
craters are.  I know any lens could do this, but when i got to thinking
about it, there is a good chance it was made by Leitz, what do you think?
