As it turns out, Ansel Adams did become attached to the Leica R system a year or so before his death. His "Autobiography" includes an anecdote at Point Lobos of an incident while reloading his R4. Interestingly enough, despite the built in capabilities of the camera, Adams continued to use a spotmeter to determine exposure.
