Subject: Re: aperture diaphragms on digital cameras

Whether an all digital camera needs an aperture diaphragm or not to
achieve proper exposure is immaterial. People using digital cameras,
regardless of how good or how bad they might be, need an adjustable
aperture to control depth of field and depth of focus. It's also a cheap
way to not overload the dynamic range of the sensor. The manufacturers
know this, the purpose of the camera is to make pictures and you have to
use DOF to do it, thus all digital cameras (and video cameras) made
currently have them.
