Hi All,

Perutz did make film as well as chemicals. I have a roll of clearly labeled
Perutz black and white film my father shot on my parents trip to the US over
the North Atlantic in December, 1951 (the North Atlantic crossing in winter
time, how, um, lovely). The grain is certainly on par with modern Plus-X in
D-76, which is to say pretty darn good. The camera was his then two-year-old
IIc with a coated f3.5 Elmar 50mm.

Of the current black and white films in 35mm, my standard for "normal"
lighting conditions is also Ilford Delta 100. This is an almost magical film
when coupled with Leica lenses. The visible grain is on par with T-Max 100,
which is to say virtually invisible at 8" x 12", but the film is less
contrasty than T-Max with noticably better edge definition. A fantastic film.

On the bag topic, I have a Lowe "Trim Tech Odessy" camera bag bought about 10
years ago. It has been through hell, and held up quite well. I did use
Scotch-guard on the top flap a time or two for insurance. I am currently
waiting to get a Billingham C-335, I believe, which is their "M6" bag.

Finally to Fred Ward, I don't know if you intended to copy the LUG with the
post to Carl, but I'm glad you did. Great stories!
