Hi - I got my (8-year old) M6 in May. Have wondered why I waited so long to get one. But during the first month, I did find the light meter operating intermittently. I tried replacing the batteries. It worked only a little better. I was worried that the M6 might be a battery pig. But on careful inspection, I discovered that the problem was some dirt in the spring that is inside the battery compartment. I cleaned it using gentle rubbing motion of an eraser on the spring and since then it has worked flawlessly. Original batteries are still fine six months later. -- Wolfgang Sachse ============================================================================= ,-----, ,-----, ,----, ,-, ,-, ,-----, ,-----, # Wolfgang Sachse | ,---; | ,-, | | ,--; | | | | | ,---; | ,---; # T&AM/Thurston Hall | `---, | |_| | | | | `--' | | `---, | `---, # CORNELL UNIVERSITY `---, | | ,-, | | | | ,--, | `---, | | ,---' # Ithaca, NY - 14853 USA ;---' | | | | | | `--; | | | | ;---' | | `---; # 607/255-5065; FAX-9179 `-----' `-' `-' `----' `-' `-' `-----' `-----' # sachse@msc.cornell.edu WWW Home Page: http://www.msc.cornell.edu/~sachse # =============================================================================
