I have both of the lenses you mentioned... the 40mm Leitz and the 40mm lens
for the CLE. I believe the Leitz lens is better. I also have both 28mm
lenses.... the Minolta one for the CLE and the Leitz one for M cameras. Mine
will not work well on the CLE. But, as you say, newer 28mm Leitz lenses will
work. The Leitz is better, but not by much in my experience. The Minolta
lens is so small and good that I would probably stick with it if I were you.
