As far as I know, it's still in production. Leica originally planned to 
manufacture 2,000 of them, then later scaled that number back to 1,500. 
Reportedly, they had production problems centered around a shortage of 
trained personnel (only one guy could polish one of the lens elements, or 
something like that).
