[Leica] Olympus OM-System 35mm lenses

Don, I can give an opinion on that. I shot with the Olympus OM system from the time I was 8 years old until I was forced to sell off most of my camera gear after my stroke 10 years ago. I had a huge OM lens collection, and the loss of them still upsets me today.

There are two 35mm lenses in the OM system that matter to ordinary shooters (there are also a couple of specialized ones like a shift lens). The 35mm f2 and the 35mm f2.8. The f2 version was multicoated in every version; the f2.8 version was single coated until the later versions that are marked MC on the front ring. I had a late 35mm f2 and a 35mm f2.8 that was one of the last single coated ones made before they began multicoating.

Neither were very sharp wide open; both were decent stopped down. Neither were among the better OM-system lenses. Olympus made some truly incredible lenses like the 50mm f2 Macro; but they never put the same effort into any of their 35mm lenses, unfortunately. That said, they're not bad stopped down a couple stops. They have pretty good bokeh. I shot a lot of street photo stuff with mine, mostly the f2 as it seemed slightly better.

Here are some of my shots with them, all on film.

Where you keep modern elements out of frame these images could have been
from the thirties. I know you have mentioned it but which Oly 35mm are you
using: I have been acquiring OM lenses but haven't picked up any 35's. I
am especially interested in the slower ones to save size and weight.
