I shot some APX400 (expired 2007) at nominal 400 speed and developed it in Adox FX-39 II (mostly just to see how this developer does with fast film). The results are pretty much like what I would see with HC110 or D76. Not really grainy (stand development for 37 minutes seems to give it time to work on the grain) but more importantly not to contrasty - more like D23 in contrast. I will absolutely try the HC110 - I like using it, and don't want to toss two cases (not bricks...cases) of outdated APX100 and APX400 when it is usable. I get good results from HP5+ and HC110 (1+49), and the timing always seems to be about 7 minutes.
