The way this whole thread was hijacked reminds me of the Monty Python’s sketch WHAT HAVE THE ROMANS BROUGHT US?

Alan’s answer sets the biases right (for the US) I think.
The UK might think of the NHS,
France of the 1st paid holidays ever,
Spain, of democracy alla Gonzales,
Etc.

And yet, someone will invariably stick to the question; WHAT HAVE THE ROMANS BROUGHT US?

;-)

Amities

Philippe, back to ground level, and who doesn’t care a damn about technological advances, what some call progress, so long as they're geared towards supremacy, and NOT towards better understanding between people. I have Tina’s shots in Pakistan in mind as I’m typing this. Beautiful souls, very little means.
