I think what Bernie Sanders represents is Democratic Socialism, as
practiced in my town, Milwaukee, in the last century. We had socialist
mayors and
council members for 40 years. They were known as "sewer socialists" for
the emphasis on infrastructure for the public good. Their administrations
ended corruption, backed public health and recreation initiatives, expanded
affordable housing and parks, created budget surpluses, and was labeled
"The best governed city in America" by (I believe) TIME magazine.
