I was in Dublin this week, for the first time in about 20 years. I did not have much free time; I arrived in the city centre around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, had an all-day conference to attend (and speak at) Thursday, and a flight home Friday morning. But I tried to make the best use of my time. An Irish colleague at the office had prepared a personalised guide for me, and on Wednesday night I got together with Douglas Barry for an evening of great beer, great food, and great conversation. And on Thursday, by skipping lunch and the first post-lunch session of the conference, I was able to visit Trinity College and the EPIC emigration museum. And of course there was also Thursday night, and the things I saw while walking to and from the conference venue from my hotel.
So a quick 2-day walk around the capital of Ireland is here:

I hope it conveys Dublin as I felt it—a city with a history, some of it painful, and with a recent transformation as a Celtic tiger which, despite the crisis that hit in 2010, remains a feature of Dublin.
As always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated.
