Nice essay on the fire drill.  It is interesting how different societies
create building codes.  I am not sure that your decorative structure would
be allowed in Atlanta for the reason your emergency team took a brief time
to figure out how to gain access.

practice entering the building to rescue people in the event of a fire. It
turned out to be a very worthwhile exercise, since they had some difficulty
actually getting in—better to figure out how to do it during a simulation
than if it had been an actual emergency!
