Thanks, Jim. Yes, they are your generation. Zev was born in 1937 in Lublin, Poland, and is thus the last member of the family with a direct connection to the place that is the origin of our family—although he left it with my father in 1939 when they fled into the Soviet Union and never returned to live there. His younger sister Rachel was born in the Soviet Union in 1941. They all returned to Poland after the war and emigrated to Israel during the 1950s. Zev then ended up in the US in the 1970s and has lived there ever since, first in Buffalo, NY, then (since 1983) in Florida. He is now retired, of course, and lives in Jacksonville.

Cheers,
Nathan

>> On Monday morning I took at an early train to Madrid to spend the day with my uncle Zev and his wife Alina who were visiting from Florida—they had taken a Mediterranean cruise with another couple, then visited Barcelona for a couple of days, and finished their trip in Madrid, from where they flew home yesterday. I am very close to them, they have always been there for us ever since I lived in Florida as a struggling, newly married graduate student in the 1980s.My aunt Rachel from Israel (Zev’s younger sister) also came to Madrid, so the day turned into a mini family reunion. We took in some art, had a good lunch, walked a bit in the heat, and then relaxed at the hotel over a beer and conversation. Four images follow.
