[Leica] IMG: Bird of Pray

Very similar indeed, Nathan, and unusual to see an eagle lectern in a
Roman Catholic church as they're normally found in Anglican places of
worship. I don't know of any in Irish catholic churches and yet they're
common in Church of Ireland ones.

The Cathedral of St. Andre in Bordeaux is a wonderful place, but I've
never been inside it yet, although I've been outside it many times,
either walking, driving, or indeed cycling as I did this year. Normally
I'm chasing my tail heading off to chateaux and vineyards with the
others, but one day I'll go in. Here's a photo of some young ladies
outside it with one saying goodbye to her single life - burying her
youth as a single girl.

It's taken with my Rolleiflex in 2006.

One of Monkstown's offerings was an open night at the local Church of Ireland parish church which has been standing on the same spot in the village since 1789, but was modified and extended by John Semple in 1831. When the modified church was opened that year, a report in one of the national newspapers said "there wasn't a spot that the eye could rest without pain." However, by the 20th Century, the church was an avowed favourite of the British Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman who waxed lyrically about its design, decoration, and proportions, and said "the original genius of Semple (is) beginning to be appreciated".

This time, I brought my little Fuji and had the freedom to wander all over the church, and do my own version of Betjeman. It is impressive and here is a shot to start.
