Thanks for your comments. My intention is to have all film processing done commercially as I really don’t want to know. I will then scan myself and do my own post-processing. There may be an intermediate step in that the lab I am looking at will scan to disk at various resolutions and it is possible I will have a low resolution disk made to act a bit like a contact sheet to cut negative handling/damage down to a minimum.
I know Silverprint of old, and since they have moved out of London they are only some 50km from me (if only I could drive) but for the costs involved I am trying the commercial route first.
