I spent a weekend there, the weather was good, the days are long this time of year, so despite the short visit I took a lot of pictures. Wrocław is a city of about 700,000 people with a large university and an international ambience. A lot of foreign investment has poured into the city since 1989, and it shows: new shopping malls, an Amazon distribution centre outside the city, lots of other companies creating jobs. But also restoration of old parts of the city, a new university campus near my sister’s place, new art galleries—the latter spurred on by Wrocław being the European Capital of Culture in 2016. As usual, I spent a lot of time looking at art, in a couple of places: a WWII bunker that is now a modern art gallery (and which I always visit), and a newly restored place called Four Domes Pavillon near the Century Tower. It used to be a film studio, where people like Andrzej Wajda made films back in the 1950s and 1960s. It then fell into disrepair, but has now been beautifully restored and turned into a branch of the national art museum, focusing on contemporary art. Just my thing!

As I always find myself saying

“I love having you out “there” bringing art to my eyes."
