Just for your information guys, in my language, « empirer" (vb) means to get worse, or worsen

Any better definition of the state of the world this guy has been shooting?

Amities

> Don McCullin has spent much of his life photographing the suffering caused by wars around the world. Why? He believed his images would effect change by condemning the horror of war. It's failed. He is now in a position to point out the inevitability of wars while we humans persist with our current notions and social structures. The concept of Empire would be a good place to start. For me, it's a missed opportunity.

What would you have Thatcher do? Just roll over and let Galtieri have his way? That was not the kind of leader she was, as the Argentines found out.

How ironic that he now accepts a knighthood (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire)! 'Wars' and 'Empires' have gone hand-in hand throughout history. If you want to put an end to war, how about questioning the concept of the Empire? It's disappointing he hasn't done this.

I have met Don a couple of times and he is a difficult man to warm to, but this honour is well deserved and long overdue. A great photographer receiving a long overdue award.
