[Leica] travel luggage question

It all depends on the airline. Easyjet is absolutely Nazi about the one-carry-on-item rule. Ryanair do allow the “personal item” such as a camera or laptop bag or a woman’s purse. I mention those two because they are they are the biggest airlines in Europe. With most other airlines on intra-Europe routes you can get away with a (small) additional item.
It is common to have to check in your roll-on at the gate (at no extra cost) if the plane is very full.
