OH a missed question?
When you shoot? say in the book store? Do you say anything to the owners
that you will be taking photos? Or do you "play tourist and just quietly
click-away?
"Given so many of my documentaries were free flying with nothing more
than..."Hi I'm Ted Grant from the NATIONAL FILM BOARD OF CANADA IN OTTAWA
and I'm doing a documentary about your city. Is it OK if I shoot a few snaps
illustrating your steel mill?"
100% of the time it would be an affirmative response as the owners always
wanted their place to look"cool "  so to speak!  
Society today being far more untrusting would probably be looking for a
request in writing? We did some written permission things if it were
shooting say. "The MAGIC of the GMC AUTOMOBILE  ASSEMBLEY LINE in OAKVILLE!"

Then I'd spend a few days, night and day start to finish cars from beginning
right to the point of being loaded on car carrying freighters. Your
thoughts? thanks.

I spent a couple of days in Maastricht last week. It is a truly lovely city,
in some ways even nicer than Amsterdam. I certainly enjoy it when I visit.
