On FF, focus then move that to between f4 and f5.6 seems to work - given you
have a lens with a DoF scale ;-) I usually used my Zeiss ZM 15mm on the M8,
I tried other lenses but wide (or close to) open I missed focus....

Thanks, Ken.  The plot thickens.  B&H has step-up rings to 52mm and the 52mm
filter, which would give me a choice of using the Fuji 27mm AF lens or the
Elmarit-R manual focus.  I'm still pondering.
